The East Bay Modern Quilt Guild is so excited to announce a workshop with Sherri Lynn Wood in conjunction with Stitch Modern, our annual show at the Piedmont Center for the Arts. Last year, Sherri presented a knock-out lecture that was focused on her creative process as applied to her work in quilt-making, but her lessons could be applied to any branch of artistic creativity.
This year, Sherri will present an improvisational twist on the Round Robin as an all-day workshop. Free your creative energy, use up your scraps, and learn the basic skills of improvisational quilt making. At the end of the day you and everyone else will leave with a distinctive quilt top beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. There are no mistakes in this fast-paced class, only discoveries, community, and FUN! Perfect for fist time improvisers. Sign up with your friends! This class is suitable for all skill levels, but general knowledge of how to use your sewing machine is required.
*This workshop will be documented and featured in Sherri’s upcoming book” The Improv Handbook For Modern Quilters, which is scheduled to be published by STC Craft in Spring 2015. All workshop participants will be asked to sign a photographer’s release form.
You can read more about the workshop on Sherri’s blog, Daintytime.net: http://daintytime.net/2013/03/04/quiltcon-day-3-improv-round-robin/
The workshop will be held on Sunday, February 23rd from 9:30 until 4:00 at the Piedmont Center for the Arts. We will have a maximum of 20 students, so sign up soon if you’re interested!
