Happy summer! Despite the heat, the East Bay Modern Quilters gathered in the new classroom space at A Verb for Keeping Warm, trying to keep cool – even with quilts on our laps.
You can click on the photo above to see more pictures of the amazing projects brought to the meeting. There are also some really great quilt related events that are coming up in the Bay Area. Read more about them below!
Yo-Yos & Half Squares: Contemporary California Quilt, which features quilts from Eli Leon’s collection, will be opening soon at the Oakland Museum. It will run from September 12 until February 21.
Stitch Modern alum, Ben Venom will be teaching at the San Jose Museum of Textiles this Saturday!
The Found/Made show at the SJ Museum of Textiles sounds great! It’s curated by Roderick Kiracofe, another Stitch Modern alum and will be up until November 1.
Stone Mountain and Daughter hosts free, drop-in tutorials on Tuesdays from 2-4. You might spot East Bay Modern Quilters, Liz or Fern there!
Fern will also be having a trunk show at the Textile Dreams studio on August 8th from 11-3pm.
Chancy will be talking about the improv round robin process at the East Bay Heritage Quilt Guild meet-up on Thursday, August 13th.
As you can see, we’re a busy bunch! Come hang out with us next month and see what we’re up to. We meet the last Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm at A Verb for Keeping Warm in Oakland.
Enjoyed meeting everyone! I am so impressed by all the creative projects.
Do let me know if you are interested in exhibiting your quilts or wall hangings at
Studios Eleven in Jack London Square. FYI – we also have a small studio available
for rent should you need extra space.
